How we help

A returned parcel does not automatically mean stock is ready to sell again. Missing components, opened packaging or an unclear order reference can leave goods in limbo while customer service and inventory records tell different stories.

BrownBag connects the return to the original order or shipment where the reference is available, records the agreed inspection findings and follows your disposition rules. Approved saleable goods can be returned to stock with the movement recorded. Your team gains a consistent evidence trail for both customer follow-up and inventory recovery.

The work, step by step

How the work is handled

  1. Identify and receive the return

Capture the parcel reference and match it to the order or shipment record. Record the products and quantities received, noting an unidentified parcel or missing component so those questions are visible before a restocking decision is made.

  2. Inspect against your criteria

Check the agreed condition points, such as packaging, visible damage, completeness and signs of use. Record the findings in the format your team needs, and separate goods awaiting a decision from those approved for the next step.

  3. Restock or route the exception

Move approved goods into the correct stock location and status, recording any agreed repacking or relabelling. Route other items to the defined review, repair or disposal decision, and share the outcome with the team handling the customer or courier case.

Your questions, answered

Can returned goods be repacked before restocking?

Yes. Where your criteria permit resale, we can scope the packaging or label work needed before the item returns to available stock. The condition decision remains explicit in the record.

Does the warehouse decide customer refunds?

Inspection supplies evidence for your customer-service process. Refunds, replacements and other customer commitments follow the approval rules you set; they are not inferred from the fact that a parcel arrived.
