How we help

An inventory number is only useful when it reflects the goods you can locate and use. Unrecorded moves, returns and packing errors can create differences that stay hidden until an order cannot be completed.

BrownBag carries out agreed stock counts and records differences at the relevant SKU and location level. We help distinguish a counting issue from a movement or status issue, then present adjustments for the agreed approval process. You receive a clearer stock position and practical follow-up actions rather than an unexplained replacement number.

The work, step by step

How the work is handled

  1. Define the count and its cut-off

Choose the products, locations and stock statuses included in the exercise. Agree how movements during the count will be handled so incoming goods, dispatches and returns do not make the comparison ambiguous before it begins.

  2. Count and review differences

Record the physical quantities using the agreed unit of measure. Recheck material differences and compare relevant receiving, movement and dispatch records to identify whether goods are misplaced, recorded differently or awaiting another operational step.

  3. Agree corrections and prevention

Share the variance record and supporting observations with the decision owner. Apply approved changes through the agreed system or handover, and identify which process changes would help prevent the same type of difference appearing again.

Your questions, answered

Can we count selected products rather than everything?

Yes. A count can focus on a particular group, location or recurring discrepancy. We agree the coverage and how the result will be compared with your existing records.

Will stock differences be adjusted automatically?

We agree who can approve adjustments and what evidence they need. The count creates a record for that decision; it does not replace the agreed inventory controls.
