A clear scope
What AEO means here
Answer Engine Optimisation, or AEO, is a marketing term for improving how content answers questions in search and answer-led experiences. Our AEO service focuses on the question and the answer: what customers ask, which page should answer it and what evidence makes the answer useful.
AEO overlaps with GEO when an AI search system uses question-led content. This engagement owns answer coverage and clarity; GEO owns the wider discovery review. We combine shared work into one scope. No wording or FAQ markup can force an answer engine to choose a page.
The buyer problem
Where the work makes a difference
Customers ask whether a part fits, how a material behaves or what a delivery promise actually means. The information may be buried in an image, repeated inconsistently across pages or absent from the product entirely. Support teams answer the same questions while search visitors leave without resolving them.
We build a question-to-page plan from your products, support enquiries and available search evidence. Direct answers sit beside the detail needed to understand them: compatibility limits, dimensions, care guidance or a comparison. Each answer has a source and an owner, so changing a product specification does not leave yesterday’s advice online.
BrownBag’s approach
From evidence to useful improvements
Find the unanswered buying questions
Group search queries, support themes and product-selection questions by customer intent. Assign each question to the page best placed to answer it and flag unsupported claims, duplicate answers and missing product facts.
Write answers with usable evidence
Prepare concise answers followed by relevant qualifications, comparison tables or instructions. Link to the appropriate product or category, identify the factual source and have the product owner review the content before publication.
Check comprehension and discovery
Review the answers on mobile, test navigation to the next buying step and inspect crawlable page content. Record the updated pages and a repeatable sample of search questions for subsequent review.
Your handover
What you receive
- A prioritised question-to-page map with source and reviewer fields
- Approved answer modules for agreed product, category and guide pages
- A content gap and contradiction register with ownership
- A publication checklist and repeatable answer-discovery review
Evidence, with context
How we measure progress
- Track the relevant query groups and landing pages in Search Console against a recorded baseline.
- Review onward product visits, enquiries or orders where consented analytics supports them.
- Record answer appearances with the query, date and surface; a sampled appearance is an observation, not a stable ranking.
Scope your next step
Bring us the problem you want to solve.
These details help us agree the deliverables, responsibilities and review points:
- Priority products and the questions your customers actually ask
- Verified product facts, policies and a subject-matter reviewer
- Your store URL, target languages and available search reporting
Start with a focused scope. We confirm access, implementation ownership and any platform eligibility before the work begins.
Your questions, answered
Is AEO just adding an FAQ to every page?
No. An answer belongs where it helps a customer complete a task. Sometimes that is a product attribute, a comparison or a detailed guide. We avoid repeating the same generic FAQ across the catalogue.
Can you guarantee a featured snippet or spoken answer?
No. Search and answer systems decide which material to display. We improve the source content and track observed appearances without presenting them as a promised placement.
Should we buy AEO and GEO separately?
Only if the work is distinct. A question inventory may support both. We agree one owner for shared research and content, then separate any additional discovery experiments in the scope.
