The problem we help solve
A clearer handoff. Less uncertainty.
Stock changes in one place while orders arrive in another. Staff re-enter information, and a delayed update can leave the storefront promising inventory that is no longer available.
How BrownBag helps
We scope Shopify integrations around the GraphQL Admin API, approved app access and the events relevant to your operation. Each data object has an agreed owner so updates do not circulate between systems indefinitely.
From requirement to operation
Your Shopify workflow
Define data ownership
Map products, variants, locations, inventory and orders to the ERP, OMS or warehouse system that owns each record.
Connect approved API operations
Implement the required scopes and event handling, with versioned API requests, rate-limit handling and an explicit retry strategy.
Test changes and recovery
Exercise cancellations, partial fulfilment, stock adjustments and replayed events. Give the team an exception view and a documented reconciliation routine.
What we can deliver
- Field and ownership map
- Scoped GraphQL and event connector
- Sync monitoring and recovery handover
We agree the systems, responsibilities, acceptance checks and support arrangements before implementation begins.
Define the right scope
App permissions, protected customer data access and product-specific Shopify limits must be confirmed. This is a scoped integration service, not a claim that every Shopify app or plan supports the same functions.
Provider requirements and interfaces can change. We recheck the applicable documentation and account access when scoping your project.
Official Shopify reference →Your questions, answered
Can Shopify remain the system of record for products?
Yes. We can make Shopify authoritative for the agreed product fields while another system owns stock or finance. The important step is defining each direction before enabling updates.
What should we include in the first brief?
Share your current store and systems, provider account status, target markets and the workflow you want to improve. Include typical volumes and the person responsible for operations. Do not send passwords, API keys or customer records.
