The problem we help solve
A clearer handoff. Less uncertainty.
Customers request a SOC 2 report, but the team cannot consistently show who approved access, reviewed changes or responded to incidents. Evidence collected only at the last minute can leave important gaps.
How BrownBag helps
We help translate the control requirements agreed with your advisers into technical workflows and evidence routines. The focus is on repeatable operations that support the relevant Trust Services Criteria.
From requirement to operation
Your SOC 2 workflow
Agree the examination context
Record the system description, selected criteria, report type and intended period with your independent CPA firm or adviser.
Close operational evidence gaps
Connect access approvals, change records, incident logs and other agreed controls to named owners and retained evidence.
Rehearse the handover
Sample records, resolve missing links and organise the evidence for the independent examination, with a clear list of outstanding issues.
What we can deliver
- Control ownership and evidence register
- Scoped workflow and logging improvements
- Organised examination handoff
We agree the systems, responsibilities, acceptance checks and support arrangements before implementation begins.
Define the right scope
SOC 2 is an independent attestation report, not a certification issued by BrownBag. The CPA firm determines the examination scope, evidence sufficiency and opinion. Readiness work cannot guarantee a particular report or completion date.
Provider requirements and interfaces can change. We recheck the applicable documentation and account access when scoping your project.

Can you help with Type I or Type II preparation?
We can scope implementation and evidence support for either. Your CPA firm confirms the appropriate report type and timing; a Type II engagement needs evidence covering the agreed operating period.
What should we include in the first brief?
Share the requirement, systems involved, target market, existing findings and the advisers or assessors already involved. We use that context to agree responsibilities, deliverables and the next review point.
